The DA is outraged and deeply saddened by the cold blooded murder of a local doctor who was stationed at
Dr Nuuman Saheb was allegedly shot dead during an armed robbery at his house in Monuments Heights last
night. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Saheb family and wish them strength during this difficult time.
This is not the first attack on a Kimberley medical professional. In recent years, there has been a growing number
of vicious attacks on local doctors. This should concern us all.
We call on SAPS to prioritize the investigation of this senseless crime. The perpetrators must be brought to book
and held accountable for their cowardly act.
Kimberley and the Northern Cape can ill-afford to lose doctors to violent crime. There is need to ensure that that
their safety, and that of everyone else, is treated as a matter of urgency by our Provincial government including a
plan to ensure that the SAPS perform their functions to keep us safe.
