The following is an extract of a speech made by DA Northern Cape Premier Candidate Andrew Louw, to the media this morning outside the Kevin Nkoane School, where he cast his vote.Attached are soundclips in English and Afrikaans from Louw.Today is the day that we have all been waiting for.Today is the day that voters everywhere hold the key to their future and the future of their children in their hands. (Download pictures here, here, here and here)My message to voters everywhere is that you do not waste your vote.Look around you. Look at the state of health care in the Northern Cape, the state of our roads, the state of water and sanitation. Look at the state of poverty and unemployment, especially of our youth. Look at the cost of living. Look at the threats to your property rights and to your pensions. The Northern Cape is on its knees. Its people have been forgotten and neglected. It is without any opportunity. It is without any hope.Is this really the kind of country and province that you want to live in?Is this what you want for your children? Why settle for this. This is what the ANC government has provided over the past 25-years. This is the standard of their governance, nothing is going to change if people vote them in again, for another five years. So please, to everyone casting their vote today, try something different.Be brave and vote for change that the DA can bring. We have brought positive change to the Western Cape and to the municipalities and metros that we govern. We can bring the same changes to you here, in the Northern Cape.Vote for a future that provides hope and opportunity to everyone, not just to a select few.Vote for your children and your grandchildren. This is who I am voting for. This is what drives me to bring change to the Northern Cape.I don’t want my children and their children to flee this province because there is nothing for them here- no jobs, no opportunities. I don’t want my children and grandchildren to live in a country divided by hatred, a country that has become polarized along the lines of race and religion. The DA stands for everyone. We want a united country and we want the rights of all South Africans, regardless of religion or race, to be protected. We want #OneSAforAll and that is a future that only the DA can deliver on. |
