Today, I accompanied my oldest son, a first time voter, to register to vote in the 2019 National and Provincial Elections.

It is a unique moment in our family that my son will be casting his vote for the first time in an election where I am contesting the position of premier. I am humbled by the support that I get from Andrew Jr and his peers. It shows me that our young people believe in the Democratic Alliance’s vision of building One South Africa for All.
I want to thank every person, whether young or young at heart, who took the time this weekend to check their registration details. Our statistics show that we painted the province blue and we are, at this stage, happy with what we achieved. Nonetheless, it is vital that every eligible voter checks their registration status by visiting check.da.org.za or visits their closest voting station to register to vote in the General Elections.
The 2019 elections are our chance to get South Africa back on track. It is our choice between letting the Northern Cape get more corrupt and unequal or building a modern, successful economy that opens fair access to real-long term jobs. We simply must stop the coalition of corruption between the ANC and the EFF, so that they do not have enough support to expropriate private homes, businesses and land without compensation.
We know that, as the DA, we can bring the difference which ends corruption, establishes an honest and professional police service, creates fair access to real, long-term jobs, secures our borders and speeds up the delivery of basic services.
Only the DA can bring real change that builds One South Africa for All. Power to bring change lies in the hands of every voter.
