The Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape urges all residents in the province to make use of the opportunity provided by the upcoming registration weekend to check if they are registered to vote.
We cannot underestimate the importance of our right to vote, because it was a difficult battle for us as South Africans to reach the point where everybody older than eighteen is allowed to vote.
But, under the failing ANC, the country has veered away from the vision that Madiba had. Registering to vote is the first step in breaking away from the failing ANC’s corruption and taking the necessary steps in realizing Madiba’s dream for our country.
We simply must stop the coalition of corruption between the ANC and the EFF, so that they do not have enough support to expropriate private homes, businesses and land without compensation.
From time to time, I speak with voters who believe that their single vote does not make a difference. But when individuals begin to think that they cannot make a difference on their own, we then have a large group who may well have influenced matters. In 2014, more than 7 million South Africans did not register to vote. This constitutes nearly 25% of our total eligible voters. Just imagine how differently matters could have been if this group of individuals also cast their votes.
Voting stations will be open between 08:00 and 17:00. If you do not have a moment to go to your voting station, you can look at check.da.org.za to verify your details on the voters list.
We know that, as the DA, we can bring the difference which ends corruption, establishes an honest and professional police service, creates fair access to real jobs, secures our borders and speeds up the delivery of basic services. But to bring this difference, we need our supporters to ensure that they are registered to vote.
